Thoughts on Week 26

Well, I just took the whole week off. And I didn’t feel guilty about it one bit. ūüôā

I was still sick—am still a tad sick, today, even—and didn’t have the energy to care about what I was eating or any other of my goals for this challenge.

So I am right now at the same weight I was at when I started the challenge.

And I’m pretty much OK with that. One of the beauties of experimenting is that you don’t have a lot invested in the outcome. I’m trying to figure out a way to lose weight without having diet and exercise take over my life and I’m without having to be cranky, so if this way doesn’t work, that’s OK. I’ll try another way.

One thing I’ve found, which makes me really happy, is that I feel really good and healthy when I’m eating less sugar and having more protein. So whether I lose weight or not, I’m still happy with the experiment.

I’m also not too worried about this weight gain, because I think it will come back off in a couple of weeks. I don’t necessarily think it’s bad to pork out every couple of months. I think it might be good for the metabolism. We’ll see. I won’t really know until the forty weeks are up.

Right now, I’ve lost less than a half a pound a week. That’s not a good record. It is not too hard to lose a pound a week. It is doable without too much discomfort. What I want to do now, though, is not worry about that. I don’t want to be tempted to try to make up for lost ground. I don’t want to lose two pounds a week. I’ve done that before and it was disastrous. I put the weight back on as soon as I stopped dieting and I put on more than I lost. So I’m not cutting my calories down past 1o,000 a week.

So here is how I did on my goals:

  1. I will turn off my computer at nine every night and get to bed before midnight.
    • Didn’t do this. Stayed up all night every night, coughing and watching movies on netflix. ¬†
  2. I will get up and read my Bible and pray.
    • Didn’t do this. Had a headache and couldn’t read.
  3. I will ride my exercise bike or swim or do Pilates or walk on the mountain or ride my bike on the bike trail six days a week. I will try for a half hour of cardio three days a week and an hour of slower exercise three days a week.
    • Blech!
  4. I will keep my calories at 10,000 a week‚ÄĒthis is an average of 1429 calories a day. I will not sweat overeating one day and I will eat from whatever food groups I want, but I will make an effort to have foods that are low carb, medium fat, and high protein each day.
    • I was almost 5180 calories over this week. ¬† ¬†Yeehaw!
  5. I will make an effort to drink more water.
    • I didn’t drink much.
  6. I will keep track of my calories at Loseit.com
    • Did this religiously.
  7. I will blog once a week on my progress and link up at Thrice Blessed’s blog every week.
    • And here I am.

Thoughts on Week 25

OH this last week was a giant fail all the way around.

I was sick all week with head and chest cold.

I’m still sick and starting this week off the same way as I ended last week.

So I’m 25 weeks into my experiment and only 18 pounds down. But I’ll keep on tracking. And one of these weeks I’ll crawl back onto the program and start caring about what I eat and how much I exercise.

So here is how I did on my goals:

  1. I will turn off my computer at nine every night and get to bed before midnight.
    • Didn’t do this. Stayed up all night every night, coughing and watching movies on netflix. ¬†
  2. I will get up and read my Bible and pray.

    • I was almost 2000 calories over this week. ¬†¬†
  5. I will make an effort to drink more water.
    • I drank a lot of gatorade this week.
  6. I will keep track of my calories at Loseit.com
    • Did this religiously.
  7. I will blog once a week on my progress and link up at Thrice Blessed’s blog every week.
    • And here I am.

Thoughts on Week 24

I had a great week calorie-wise but still gained a pound. I suspect that is because, though I kept the calories down, the ones I did eat were garbage. There was that¬†Halloween¬†candy that my mother insisted we buy. All that candy left over after we failed to have one single kid show up. ARGH. I ate 300 calories worth of candy three days in a row. I am ruined by Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups.

I walked one day with my daughter and the dogs. I’m having a hard time wanting to give up time to exercise because I have so much other stuff going on right now.

So here is how I did on my goals:

  1. I will turn off my computer at nine every night and get to bed before midnight.
    • Didn’t do this. Working on NaNo this month means I have to do all my other stuff in the evenings. I worked late each night on my website, trying to learn to do image maps. I learned it, though. woo hoo. Love my new splash page for my author site.¬†
  2. I will get up and read my Bible and pray.
    • I did OK with this. Not great. I have been doing Bible and prayer time with the kids and that bites into my personal time.
    • This was good, but, as stated above, I ate garbage calories this week. ¬†
  5. I will make an effort to drink more water.
    • I didn’t even think about water.
  6. I will keep track of my calories at Loseit.com
    • Did this religiously.
  7. I will blog once a week on my progress and link up at Thrice Blessed’s blog every week.
    • And here I am.

Thoughts on Week 23

Weird stuff. My blog is freaking out. I can’t get into the control panel using Google Chrome. It redirects me to another blog I have for some reason. But I got the idea to use Firefox and it works. Very strange indeed.

But I’m here finally. Pressed for time because I’m doing NaNoWriMo so I’m posting late. But I’m sticking with this. doggone it.

I didn’t do any exercise again. And I’m not going to do any until after the first of the year, probably. I just can’t wrap my mind around exercise right now so I’m going to quit thinking about it for a week or two. Then I’ll reconsider. I know I feel better when I exercise, but for some reason I have no willpower right now.

I will walk with my daughter and the dogs when I can, but I’m not going to stress about doing more than that right now.

The eating is still working out fine. I’m down three pounds this week. That puts me at twenty pounds down for twenty-three weeks. I’m thankful for that.

So here is how I did on my goals:

  1. I will turn off my computer at nine every night and get to bed before midnight.
    • I didn’t do too well at this. I was making a new web site this week and I spent a lot of hours on the computer. And I’ll be on late all this month. Doing NaNoWriMo and that means I’m writing a lot during the day and having to catch up in the evening. I will still try to turn off the computer at nine, and keep it off on Sunday, because I need down time.
  2. I will get up and read my Bible and pray.
    • I did good with this all week.
    • This was good.¬†
  5. I will make an effort to drink more water.
    • I didn’t even think about water. I need a kick in the butt.
  6. I will keep track of my calories at Loseit.com
    • Did this religiously.
  7. I will blog once a week on my progress and link up at Thrice Blessed’s blog every week.
    • And here I am, late and full of failure and yet…I will keep on.
